Vomit Emergency

Well, we got our first real taste of the chaos that can ensue with two working parents and a baby in Day Care...

It was Tuesday. A crazy-busy day for both Josh and myself. I had a bunch of grants due and catch-up work from being gone last week to visit mom. He had a number of home-visits to make and catch-up work from being the sole Ellie-wrangler last week.

..and then the phone rings.

It's Ellie's Day Care teachers informing me that their policy is to send kids home if they puke three times, and Miss Mouse had just ralphed for the fourth time.

What, now? I have to come get her right now? Yes, in fact, they wanted the immediate removal of my plague-ridden daughter from the premises.

After several minutes of frantic phone calls, we worked out a plan. I grabbed the sickie and headed to a friend's apartment where we hung out for an hour until Josh could wrap things up and drive over. He took her home for a few more hours. I left work early to get home and take over baby-watching so he could visit one more home-bound person.

Geez Louise. Who knew that a little vomit could cause so much insanity? And she wasn't even sick! No fever. No signs of grumpiness or discomfort. Just barf. Sigh.
