Eating All the Time

I truly feel like up until about a week ago, I wasn't really eating more food than I usually do. I swear. I pretty much ate whatever my body said it wanted but the overall quantity being consumed felt pretty steady.

Not any more.

Now, I am hungry 24 hours a day. I am really only happy when I am putting food in my mouth. The rest of the time, I think about when and what I might be able to eat next. Sigh. But they say that's the way it goes. In theory, you gain roughly a pound a week throughout the pregnancy -- but that's only an average. In reality, you gain less than that early on and more than that as the weeks and months progress.

So bring on the poundage! Squishy is bulking up. Hmmm...did someone say there was blueberry coffee cake in the break room?

PS -- speaking of babies bulking up. Am I ever glad that I do not have diabetes. Our doctor mentioned in passing some poor mother-to-be whose baby is projected to weigh about 14 pounds at birth. I think they're scheduling a c-section. Good lord.
