I *think* I may have felt a kick last night. I'm so excited. All The Books by Experts say that somewhere between the 16th and 20th week, most women start to feel the baby move. First-time moms are generally a little slow on the uptake because we don't know what we're supposed to be "feeling for."
I've tried really hard over the last few weeks to detect movement, but nothing doing. But last night I took a little nap after a hard day's shopping. I woke up and was just kinda lying there, deciding whether or not to get up for real. And then, there was this...thing. I'm not sure how to describe it. I think "darting" may be the best adjective. Like what fish do. A really quick flash of movement, gone so fast you're not sure it was there in the first place. I felt it twice and then it was done.
So, I'm recording the 18th of May as the first official Squishy Movement and now I'm hoping for a repeat performance. As with many things, I'm sure the novelty will wear off and when, in the 9th month, Squishy is tap dancing in there at 3am, it won't be so cool. But for now, I'm entranced.
