Mother's Day

Just when you think you're really getting your head around the reality of impending parenthood, something else comes along. Like Mother's Day.

My mom bought me a present this year and several people wished me a Happy Mother's Day. Pardon? Happy-say-what-again? Mother's Day is for, well, mothers. Oh, I guess I am one. Weird.

But weirdness aside, my first official Mother's Day was fabulous. I flew to Chicago and then drove with my parents to Iowa to spend the weekend with my grandma and grandpa and other familial types out there. Mom and I treated ourselves to a decadent Chocolate Tea. Want to feel wildly jealous? Behold the menu:

Warm Forest Berry Cheese Crepes

Assorted Mini Quiches

Tea Sandwiches

Scones & Muffins

Chocolate Covered Strawberries

Strawberry-Swirled-Cream-Cheese Chocolate Cake

Forest Berry & Chocolate Gelato

Lemon Bars & Assorted Cookies

Italian Cream Cupcakes

Cream Puffs

Yeah, that's right. Read it and drool. And since it was a tea party, mom and I dressed accordingly. Flouncy skirts. Hats. Very elegant.
