Having a tiny baby at Christmas brings with it innumerable joys, but it also raises at least one dilemma: Christmas gifts. Do you (as parents) buy Christmas gifts for the baby? I am quite certain that gifts will rain down upon her over the next few days from grandparents, aunts, uncles, and other baby worshippers. But Josh and I pondered whether to buy her presents ourselves.
Well, that's not quite true. It wasn't so much pondering as debating. Josh was insistent from the beginning that Ellie should have Christmas presents. I was more of the opinion that I buy her things seemingly every day and as she is utterly unaware of the holiday, perhaps specific Christmas presents were unnecessary.
But no. My beloved husband stood firm.
And not only were presents needed, they had to be wrapped so that she could "open" them! This part bewildered me further -- I mean, I'm on board for next year when her joy at tearing the paper apart will surpass any that could be engendered by the gift itself. But this year?
Apparently so.
