In regards to Ellie rolling over, which I have still not seen (grrrr!), I see human evolution in action. It is part of human nature to discover, to move on to the next thing no matter what it may be, just because we can. That is Ellie's nature right now: she is simply discovering the next thing and doing it because she can. I find this fascinating, especially when it comes to rolling over. She hates being on her stomach. When we put her there she grunts, farts, and cries until we roll her back over. But she will not stop trying to roll over. Why? Because it is her next step as a human being. She can roll over, therefore she must and see what's there. Ah, humans.
