The Tao of Laundry

Josh and I have fundamentally different approaches to laundry (which is why we do ours separately). He believes fervently in the "you wear it you wash it" school of thought. Everything he wears goes into the laundry every time -- this includes blue jeans and outer-level t-shirts. I think the only exception he makes is for sweatshirts.

I, on the other hand, take a more, shall we say, relaxed approach to laundry. While I have grown out of the "smell test" phase of laundry, I'm still perfectly happy to wear certain items multiple times.* Underpants and socks get washed right away, of course. But t-shirts can get at least a couple wears, as can sweaters. And blue jeans? The main reason one washes blue jeans is to get them to tighten up again after they stretch from a good couple weeks of wearing.

Josh really wants Ellie to learn his way of washing and between that and the diapers, we do a phenomenal amount of baby laundry:

Light colored baby clothes (at least once a week).
Dark colored baby clothes (once a week).
Diapers (every other day).
Diaper wipes/liners (every couple days).

And finally, the all important category -- brought on by Naked Time -- of Blankets Ellie Has Peed On (at least once a week).

*Disclaimer: This excludes clothing Ellie barfs on. I tend to wash those right away, if for no other reason than to prevent stains.
